Slab Pots

Sixth grade students focused on texture while creating these clay vases using the slab technique.  Each student learned how to roll out an even slab and then worked to add detailed and interesting texture to their slab.  With the use of scoring and slipping, they created a vertical cylinder with their slab and added a food to their vase.  Students used high-fire gray clay to sculpt their vases, and after bisque-firing, dipped their work in multiple layers of high-fire glaze.  Their color choices emphasize their added textures.
