Ceramics I students show their perseverance and creativity during the coil building unit. Each student demonstrates their ability to use the coil technique through the creation of a large-scale vessel with intricate line designs.
This unit is both difficult and rewarding. Students must use an extensive amount of creative problem solving as they work to create a piece of art that is at least 30 cm tall. They learn about how to manage the plasticity of their clay, but also about the importance of the design process and the need to revisit and rework plans throughout the creation process.
Each coil vase is a work of art and also a demonstration of determination and hard work.
