Leaf Rubbings
First grade students love the opportunity to walk outside and collect leaves for use in the art room. This project was an excellent chance to incorporate a nature walk alongside art. Students collected leaves from around the playground and then brought them inside to use in a crayon rubbing activity. We talked about texture and color as students chose fall-inspired crayons to bring out the textures of their leaves on drawing paper.
