Magazine Grid Drawing

Remember those "find the difference" games that are sometimes found in the Comics section of the newspaper?

My 10th graders used that concept to create a project that focuses on observation and grid drawing.  Each student chose a magazine photo with a person in it and then used the grid technique to transfer the image to a piece of drawing paper.  While transferring, they were asked to make three subtle changes to the drawing.

This exercise helped my students focus on what they were observing and also made for a fun game while I graded their projects!
