Overlapping Pumpkins

Fall was the perfect time to create a pumpkin patch.  Using information about shapes and overlapping, first graders created these miniature pumpkin patches with 3-dimensional vines.  They also colored the background of their scenes in with blue and green crayons.
When I teach this project, I also like to read a Halloween story to the class.  One of my favorites is
Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman.

 

 The assessment students filled out for this project is linked below.  The space at the bottom of the assessment was provided as an area for students to write a sentence describing their project using adjectives from the A to Z Art Wall.
