Personalized Portraits
Third grade students learned about facial proportion and expressed their personal interests during this unit. We began with a basic drawing lesson about facial proportion and then each student used a mirror and their observational skills to draw their portrait as accurately as possible. After drawing their portrait, students brainstormed interesting things about themselves and added drawings of these personal interests to the background of their portraits. Students chose between marker, crayons, or colored pencils for the completion of the unit.
