Poinsettia Cards
This quick assignment was a perfect activity for students during the holiday season. These poinsettia cards gave second grade students the opportunity to demonstrate their composition and overlapping skills while creating beautiful cards to share with their families. Each student used scraps of red and green construction paper to tear petals and leaves to form their flowers. They glued these leaves and petals to white card stock and used a pencil to roll the edges up to add three-dimensionality. A dot of glitter was added to the center of each flower to enhance the festivity. Once the glue was dry, students wrote holiday notes to their family, teachers, and friends in celebration of the giving season.
