Ceramics II students use their slab building skills in this choice-based building project. Students must build a slab "house", but may choose to create a detailed exterior, interior, or both depending on their overall theme. The thematic focus of their piece should either demonstrate their ability to build a small miniature interior space or should demonstrate their ability to add personal attributes to reflect their individuality. Students may opt for either theme choice or may choose to combine the two together.
After extensive planning, students build their slab house and add extensive additive and subtractive relief to the interior and/or exterior as a means of conveying their overarching idea. Students may choose to finish their artwork with either glazes or acrylic paints.
