Architectural Tile Series

Ceramics II students begin the year by creating a unified series of tiles with additive and subtractive relief.  They can choose to focus the theme of their tiles on a style of architecture or on a current socio-political issue.  Students who choose to focus on architecture conduct research about the style they have chosen and use their research to inform their design process.

Each student must create a minimum of three tiles that are unified visually as a representation of their researched architectural style.  They may choose to paint their tiles with glaze or acrylics and are encouraged to mount their tiles in a manner that coincides with their sculptural choices.
