Facial Emotion Storyboards

Fifth grade students learned about various human emotions and how to depict them in a visual manner.  As a class, we brainstormed emotions and the facial features that make them recognizable.  We also discussed color emotions, thinking about how best to enhance the understanding of an emotion based on the color choice in an art work.

Students worked in small groups to storyboard a variety of human emotions, adding distinct facial features and clear captions to each panel.  The results demonstrate a strong understanding of the visual representation of human emotions as well as the importance of human emotions and facial expressions as a means of communication.
