Halloween Silhouette Cut-Outs
Third grade students celebrated Halloween in the art room by creating these fun silhouette cut-outs. We discussed the art of Henri Matisse and used his cut-paper pieces as inspiration for our own cut-paper projects. Each student designed a house on black paper and carefully cut out the windows and doors. They added patterns and designs to the house with metallic crayons before choosing a background color and assembling their cut-paper silhouette. Extra details were added inside the negative spaces of their cut-out with crayons and colored pencils.
